Amazon, the one-time bookstore, which now sells pretty much everything, had added 30 million new customers last year to bring its total active user base to 300 million and $456 Billion in sales
Amazon defines active customers as accounts that have made a purchase in the past 12 months, so that means Amazon has valid credit cards on file for roughly that many people worldwide. Although not a direct comparison, Apple has 800 million iTunes accounts and PayPal has 416 million users.
Amazon is significantly ramping up its use of warehouse robots from its Kiva Systems subsidiary — expecting to have 10,000 of the robots deployed in its warehouses around the world by the end of the year, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos said recently at the company’s annual meeting in Seattle.
That’s up from around 1,000 robots in Amazon warehouses currently.
It’s part of a broader effort by the company to increase the level of automation to make its fulfillment centers more efficient. Kiva robots include mobile shelving systems that automatically deliver items to employees.

With the fact that Facebook has an advertising message delivery service to reach their 41 million active Page Holders in Canada and 151 million active Page Holders in the US, you have a way to reach a consuming marketplace of 192 million people.
Facebook allows you to place a small add directing the page holder to click to your website. If anyone clicks you pay a small fee, and you can limit this amount to $5-$10 per day. In this manner you can control your advertising expense and only pay for those market segments that are receptive to your ad and buy things.
In addtion, Facebook allows you to create an audience of pageholders in a specific area if you know their phone numbers. If you feel that your product would appealto people living near the ocean, or near a lake, you can send your ad just to them.
